The Central Catholic High School choir will perform from 7:30 to 8. The choir is under the direction of J. Matthew White, who also accompanies the group. This event will feature secular and religious Christmas music and will offer something for everyone.
Following at 8p.m. will be a performance of members of the Wheeling Park High School Bluegrass band. Under the guidance of Bob Turbanic, the group has been a long standing institution at Wheeling Park and has performed all across the area over the years; carrying on the proud tradition of celebrating Appalachian music and culture.
In the words of Third Friday co-ordinator, Sean Decker, “ What an amazing opportunity to bring both these schools and the greater Wheeling community together in the spirit of the holiday.” Open Mic will take place from 9-10 p.m., concluding the evening’s events. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the evening’s donations will go to the two schools’ music programs. Surrounding the musicians and guests in the Studio Gallery is the artwork of artists who have joined Artworks during the past year. In the North Gallery, the artwork of students from Martins Ferry Middle and High School is featured for the entire month of December.
ARTWORKS around town is a nonprofit charitable and educational organization that operates a Gallery and Art Center for the benefit of the artists and general public of the region. Hours are 10 a.m until 5:30p.m Monday through Saturday except for Fridays when closing is at 6p.m.. Artworks is located at 2200 Market Street in Wheeling’s Historic Centre Market.
