April Showers Bring Artworks’ Flowers

ARTWORKS around town’s  Third Friday music program will be cancelled for the month of April while members of the artist community continue their remodeling work.  Drills, hammers and saws make a unique music of their own.  The first two weeks of intensive refurbishing have produced a pleasing change in the layout and feel of the old space.

Artist members are doing all of the work themselves.  Several of them have built structures on their own properties and are well versed in all areas of construction and renovation.  In addition to rebuilding display areas, all of the panels are being painted a uniform background color.  The selection of the most suitable paint was done carefully from many samples of neutral colors.   Jeff Mamone’s computerized floor plan guides have been followed closely under the direction of Ken Cox and his team; Mike Turbanic, Jeff Mamone, Larry Travis and Eric Dye.  Other members are taking care of the priming and painting .

Work has been progressing in an orderly manner beginning at the north  end.  Visitors to the gallery have been impressed with the evolving new look.  Gallery operations continue uninterrupted for the duration of the upgrades.  Guests are still welcome to browse and shop.  All artist’s work is still on display even though the location of pieces may move to a different spot during the construction.  Workshops continue.

Artists who are interested in joining ARTWORKS around town are encouraged to download the application for membership from the website or get a printed form, available at the sales desk.  The process is explained in detail on the form.  Jurying takes place approximately every three months.  All forms of artwork are encouraged from pottery to drawings and everything in between.

ARTWORKS around town is a non-profit gallery providing exhibit space for juried artists as well as community outreach educational activities.  The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. except for Fridays, when closing is at 6 p.m.
