First Friday at Artworks Around Town welcomes Liz Neumann to the Studio Gallery at 2200 Market Street in Historic Wheeling’s Centre Market. The opening reception will run from 5 to 8 PM this Friday, February 7th. The public is invited and light refreshments will be served. The gallery show artist will be present as will many of the Artworks artists. Liz Neumann discovered her love of art at an early age. At 10 years old, her talents were rewarded as the Girl Scouts commissioned her to create artwork for a calendar. Decades later, she still accepts commissions and fashions her own creations, working primarily in acrylics with palette knives and fiber brushes.
A Wheeling native, Liz gives much credit to Oglebay Institute for developing her talent. Years of taking classes from local and traveling artists have given her an opportunity to explore all mediums and feel comfortable with her techniques and abilities.
Liz is a founding member and current president of Artworks Around Town. This non-profit gallery at 2200 Market Street in Wheeling features a rotating collection of hundreds of creations by Wheeling-area artists. She is a member of The Arts and Humanities Commission of Wheeling and as such, assists in spearheading the Wheeling Arts Fest and other artistic endeavors.
Among the leaders of the annual Paint Historic Wheeling (formerly Paint Oglebay), Liz is also co-founder of the Lobster Fest for the Arts fundraiser held each May at Wheeling’s Centre Market.
Liz is proud to have her works displayed in homes and offices throughout Wheeling, as well as in private collections across the globe. A member of Journees de Pienture, Liz travels each summer to paint with other artists from England, France, Switzerland, Germany and the United States, and will assist in hosting the group when they come this June to paint in the United States.
The North Gallery, will feature work of the friends & family of Artworks. This is a very popular show and will feature many up and coming local artists.
