Paint Historic Wheeling – August 2,3 & 4
Artworks Around Town invites all artists to participate in Wheeling’s 2013 plein air painting event. For the past seven years, the annual Paint Out has been held at Oglebay Resort. This year the event is taking a new and exciting twist! Paint Historic Wheeling will take place August 2, 3 & 4 in downtown Wheeling. Receptions, artist workshops and public art shows will be held at Artworks Around Town and are taking place the same weekend as Wheeling’s popular Grecian Festival, which attracts several thousand visitors each year. This change of venue is a way to bring public art to the streets of Wheeling during a time when thousands of residents and visitors are strolling through the Centre Market and Downtown areas. We believe it will provide participating artists opportunities for more public exposure and new and interesting vistas to paint. Area residents will have an opportunity to see the beauty of our city though the eyes of talented artists like you! Artists may choose to paint anywhere around the city- Victorian Old Town, the Historic Centre Market District or along the waterfront with beautiful views of the Ohio River and the historic Wheeling Suspension Bridge. Wheeling’s charming neighborhoods feature plenty of inspiration from downtown streetscapes to unique architectural structures to rural landscapes, waterways and gardens. Our annual plein air event continues to grow each year, attracting more artists and patrons and increasing art sales, and we believe 2013 could be the best year yet! If you plan to attend, please don’t delay registration. Early head counts allow us to better plan for staff, food and facility set-up so that the entire weekend runs smoothly. If you have any questions, would like a complete event schedule, or wish to register for the event, please contact Liz Neumann at 304-277-1733 or by email at lizart7@aol.com.
