ARTWORKS around town is honored to welcome James Luke and his exhibit “The Cosmos” for the month of May. He has been a guest artist previously and each time he shows his work, The Gallery lights up with glimpses of the universe well beyond our horizons. Meet James at our Opening Reception on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Luke has been fascinated with outer space most of his life. He received his first telescope when he was 11 years old. Graduation from high school sidetracked his study of the universe but it was rekindled when he served on active duty in his mid-thirties.
The purchase of his first Orion 10-inch Dobsonian Telescope along with a web camera launched the beginning of his passion for deep space photography. In his biography he states, “Since then, my enthusiasm and understanding of celestial bodies and astrophotography and post-processing techniques has only grown.”
He has held presentations and talks on astrophotography and some of his best images have been published. He is excited to explore what new wonders our cosmos presents and is hoping to be able to share those discoveries with others. ARTWORKS is pleased to give him both of our North Galleries for May to present his newest photographs.
ARTWORKS is a non-profit fine art and educational gallery dedicated to serving the community. Located in Wheeling’s Historic Centre Market, hours are 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
