It's that time of year again at Artworks . . . Ohio Valley Plein Air Paint Out

For months members of the Ohio Valley Plein Air Paint Out Committee under the direction of Eric Dye have been planning this year’s three day outdoor painting event. The Opening Reception will be held at Artworks on Sunday, October 12 and will start at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend. Awards will be announced at this time. This party takes the place of the normal First Friday event.

Painters will be setting up their easels at three locations this year. Oglebay Park will be the first stop on October 9. Historic cites in Eastern Ohio will be next on Friday, October 10 and the Greater Wheeling Area is Saturday’s location. Over twenty artists are signed up for the event. Students from four schools in Marshall County and Linsly are also painting and will have their works displayed at Artworks alongside those of more seasoned artists.

Painting outdoors has been an honored tradition among area artists, those with experience and some just starting to paint. The participants will display and sell their works at The Gallery for the rest of the month of October. This is an opportunity to purchase an original work of art depicting our iconic and historic scenes and buildings.

Artworks is a non profit fine art center dedicated to serving the Wheeling area community and is located in the Centre Market. Hours are from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. six days a week, Monday through Saturday.
